A smashingly successful season of Women's Indoor Tennis welcomes 45 female local athletes to the ranks of Major League Champions at the Sportime at Roslyn tennis club. Fellow league players are encouraged to nominate one individual who epitomizes outstanding sportsmanship, court etiquette and honest, friendly competition. One woman in each of the 16 leagues is nominated by her own league members to receive the coveted Sports'mam'ship Award, a statue of honor and distinction.

Monday - 3.0 singles - Champion: Jodi Scheinbaum (Roslyn); 2nd Place: Marianne Tomei; Sports'Mam'Ship Award: Elyse Yedid. Many more photos will appear in next week's issue.

According to League Director Karen Marlib Palevsky, "Sportime's leagues are exceptional in both the caliber of skilled players and the degree of sportsmanship exhibited both on and off our courts. I continuously emphasize the importance of such courteous behavior as it only enhances the fun and excitement in a competitive environment."

The spring 2003 women's leagues are swinging at full speed with several positions currently available. To join the fun and fitness on Sportime courts, call today and speak with League Director Karen at 484-9222. League matches run from mid-January through May, so there's months of tennis ahead.
