Popular Eatery Forced Out of Town
There is a big hole in the business district on Old Northern Boulevard in downtown Roslyn. Last fall, Friend of A Farmer, the popular eatery which had been in the village since 1992, shut its doors and relocated to Locust Valley.

Village Amends Tree Code
In their continuing effort to preserve the unique architectural character of Roslyn Estates, that village's board of trustees recently approved several amendments to its tree codes. The amendments concern the planting of new trees, what constitutes a tree, and penalties for any failures to replace trees on both commercial and residential properties. The new ordinance takes effect immediately.

Bulldogs Edge Plainedge, 43-39
Last Friday, Jan. 8, the Roslyn Bulldogs boys varsity basketball squad came from behind to defeat Plainedge, 43-39. The victory, scored at a home game at Roslyn High School, salvaged a week that saw the Bulldogs lose to both Bethpage and Jericho.

Maccabi Games Tryouts This Month
Sid Jacobson JCC of East Hills is seeking Jewish teen athletes for the boys and girls soccer and basketball teams for the 2003 Maccabi Games. This year the JCC will compete at the games in Tenafly, NJ from Aug. 17-22. Athletes must be ages 13-16 and must be 16 by Aug. 1.
