Girls 5

Cornell 26 - Penn 14 - A record seven different girls scored in Cornell's balanced attack. Leading the charge were Kaely Levy and Stefanie Klapper. Sarah Marks showed off her much-improved shot and nailed a free throw. Jennifer Schissel, Jamie Cooper, Lauren Kobrick and Perri Canner also contributed to the scoring.

Syracuse 22 - Maryland 18 - The Syracuse Orangewomen ended a two game losing streak with a hard fought four point victory . Heather Steinman took control of game for the Orange with 10 points. Ashley Tomei and Chelsey Cohen dished out plenty of assists, and Marissa Bernstein scored six points, including the game winner in the eighth segment. Chelsea Powell was welcomed back to the lineup and chipped in with tenacious defense.

UCLA 18 - U Mass 17 - The UCLA Bruins are now riding a two game winning streak. The Bruins narrowly edged out the Minutewomen 18-17 this past Saturday. Claudia Scheinman scored the Bruins final 2 points with a corner jump shot to seal the victory. The ball handling of Mallory Greenberg, and Pamela Vrabel, and Randi Olan helped keep the Bruins' motion offense running like a fine tuned machine.

Stanford 22 - Duke 19 - Stanford has worked very hard in their practice on improving several aspects of our game. This showed through this week with our first hard fought victory. Leading the way was Alexa Pollack, who was driving to the hoop with authority and following up her shots. Brooke Maltz also caught fire in the later segments hitting several key baskets to help maintain the lead. Dominating the backboards was Dominique Bourhill who afforded our team several second chance baskets.

Princeton 19 - Michigan 13 - Down by seven and pushed to the brink, the Lady Tigers of Princeton clawed their way back and past a powerful Michigan Wolverine squad in a battle-testing 19-13 victory. Christina Mockler' s spiderweb defense and slashing layups ignited the offense. Gabriella Kaplan led the scoring with clutch shooting including a smooth pull-up jumper down the stretch.

Boys 6

Musiker's Mustard Seeds 20 - Mayrsohn's Muffins 18 - After getting behind early, due to a sleeping defense. Team 3, now naming themselves the "Muffins", started to play hard. Good defense led by Lucas M. in rebounding, Brandon S., and Alec Sherman, helped the Muffins to slow down the faster opposition. Hard passing by Rory M. helped the team play harder. Great team work by Andrew S., lay-ups by Brett G. and steady ball handling by our new player Dan C. brought the Muffins back to within 2 points.

Harra's Hot Peppers 25 - Schutzer's Sunflower Seeds 23 - Coach Bill Harra reports that his "hot peppers" played a spicy close game. Good defense and great scoring. Jeff B, Jonathan C,Justin S, Elliot S and Evan H all helped with the scoring. The Hot Peppers pulled out the big W in the last 4 seconds.

Magier's Multigrain Rice 32 - Rossinsky's Radicchio Salad 17 - Coach David Magier reports: "Very disappointing game, no fan support, hopefully the lousy weather and time of year were the reason for the lack of the crowd. Our Multigrain Rice kernels provided balanced team scoring, Patel had a particularly good game. He shot well, and played great defense. Posner had a couple of nice fast breaks for points, Cody still looking for a bucket, had the ref take a possible three point play away. Still Cody's hustle and rebounding was big. Magier and Spanbock had solid games, scoring 20 points between them. Labib was tough on defense, but his shooting has been off lately, we will have to work on that if we have any shot in the playoffs.

Saltzman Sushi Rolls 35 - S. Cohen's Salad Dressing 21- The Sushi rolls hopped off the chopping block and jumped out to an early lead and never let go. Daniel led all scorers. Gabby pulled down 8 rebounds scored 8 points and forcing many shot adjustments.

M. Cohen's Milky Ways 41 - D'Innocenzo's Dutch Cocoa 19 - Coach M. Cohen reports; " What can I say----George B had 26 points and played a super all around game. Jason S distributed the ball like a pro with 11 assists and also chipped in with 4 points. Russell E played a good defensive game."

Boys 8/9

In a seesaw battle in the day's opener, the Lakers (3-1) held on to beat the Heat (2-2), 46-45, and maintain a share of first place. Leading the way for the Lakers was Jeremy Grant's 19 points, and Ryan Meyers and Ben Lomazow, each with 6.

It was a true team effort for the Sonics (2-3), as every player scored, and the team won its second game in a row, beating the Raptors (3-2), 44-36. Tying for high scoring honors for the Sonics were Andy Crystal and Danny Gordon, each with 13. The Sonics pulled away in the fourth quarter when Brad Mighdoll took control of the boards and Jamie Hanfling's ball handling stifled the Raptors.

Although held to a season low point output, the Hornets (4-1) beat the Nets (0-4), 27-22. As usual, the Hornets' buzz was led by Brandon Reiner, who scored 10 from the floor and added 3 at the foul line.

The excitement reached a crescendo in the nightcap, as the Knicks (4-1) held on to a share of first place and pulled out a double overtime victory over the Wizards (2-3). Jake Chase led the way for the Knicks, with 19 points. Adding to the scoring for the Knicks were Austin Cohen, Ross Karlick, Elliot Hyman and Steven Passaro. Michael Rogers' 18 points and Jeremy Einhorn's 11 points kept the game close for the Wizards.

Boys 7

Knicks 39 - Wizards 37. The first game of the evening was a tight affair, with the Knicks coming out on top by 39-37. The Knicks' attack was led by David Amatau's 10 points and Seth Godnick's 8 points.

Lakers 46-Celtics 38

The Lakers won their first game of the season in another hard fought affair. For the second week in a row, the Lakers took a game into overtime. Laker scoring was led by Keith Berman with 19 points, Jake Levy 10, Max Greenbaum with 9, and Joe Gabay and Aaron Shipper with 6 each.

Nets 38 Bulls 36

The Nets were able to hold on to win in a well played 2 point game against the Bulls 38-36. Kurt David came up big with 17 points, and played the best game in his young career. He had several key rebounds and defensive stops as he was all over the court. Mike Kleinman contributed 10 points and played harassing defense all night long.

Raptors 36 76ers 30. The Raptors were led by David Chase's 11 points although the scoring was very balanced with contributions from Zach Greenberg with 6, Zach Stern with 6, and Scott Bleznick, Evan Babazadeh and Danny Buslik all adding to the total.
