The Roslyn Community Party held its annual meeting on Wednesday, Dec. 11 at Roslyn Village Hall. Mayor John Durkin and Village Board members Craig Westergard, Marta Genovese and Marshall Bernstein attended and reported on current issues of importance to Roslyn Village residents.

Residents were informed that the rebuilding of the Roslyn Viaduct will be a 30-month project, to begin in the winter of 2004. Passage over the Viaduct will be maintained at all times during the construction period. Road renewal of village-owned roads is to be a two-year project with the starting date as yet unspecified. A $3 million bond issue has been proposed as the funding instrument for this undertaking. Trustees Bernstein, Westergard, Genovese and Mayor Durkin all spoke on the state of the "Stop and Shop" litigation, indicating that the legal proceedings were ongoing with no significant developments to report at this time. Also reported on were the severe problems involved in Roslyn's deteriorating sewer system. The trustees pointed out that the most seriously damaged lines will be repaired or replaced first and that work will begin this year.

The Community Party elected new officers for the year: Andrea Kaufman, president; Alan Rosenberg, vice president; Andrea Conetta, secretary; and Marilyn Bernstein, treasurer. A committee was appointed to nominate candidates for mayor, trustees and village justice, to run for election in March 2003.
