By the time you read this article, the Nassau County Class B varsity boys soccer game will be under way. Win or lose, the big story of Class B ball has been the play of Roslyn High. On Thursday, Oct. 7, the Bulldogs took on Wheatley in the tournament's title game.
Winners of the B-V regular season title, the Bulldogs were ranked eighth in the Class B tournament. After defeating Jericho and Seaford, they advanced to the title game.
The quarterfinal match against Jericho ended in a 1-1 tie. However, Roslyn won the game due to its 5-4 edge in penalty kicks. On Sunday, Oct. 3, the Bulldogs played Wheatley at Bethpage State Park. Even though the Bulldogs were playing without star forward Eric Paulenoff, the outcome was never in doubt, as Roslyn prevailed over fifth-ranked Seaford, 4-0.
Jeff Swersky scored the Bulldogs first goal, off a pass from Evan Diamond. Chris Murray then followed with his first of two goals, also off a pass from Diamond. Scott John scored goal number three and Murray knocked in his second goal in the second half.
