Town Councilmanic District Commission Recommends Referendum to Town Board
The North Hempstead Councilmanic District Commission has issued its report to the North Hempstead Town Board. The commission, set up by Supervisor May Newburger and the town board to study whether or not the Town of North Hempstead should adopt a councilmanic district system to replace its traditional at-large election of council members, was unable to reach a majority decision.

Man Saves Driver from Burning Car
Glen Cove Road, as local residents know all too well, is often the site of car accidents. Last Monday night, a potentially fatal accident had a happy ending when the owner of a local business literally saved a woman from a car already on fire from a collision with a truck.

JCC Golf July 22
Later this month, the Sid Jacobson JCC will honor Lynda and George F. Marts, of Laurel Hollow for their outstanding support of community. On Monday, July 22, the Sid Jacobson JCC will host the EarlyBirdCapital Seventeenth Gold Classic to benefit the Sid Jacobson JCC. The event will take place at Glen Oaks Club in Old Westbury.
