Congratulations to the constituents of the East Williston Union Free School District. Neal Rohr's election to a seat on the East Williston Board of Education is a glowing testament to the integrity and intelligence of this community.

* They were not swayed by the propaganda that was distributed

* They refused to be moved by ridiculous stick figure cartoons and supposed endorsements by a second party.

The final vote sends a clear message - this community cares about the quality of education and maintaining the high standards and values that have always been so important in our history.

I can't remember when, not so long ago, voting for the school budget and board seats was held in the Wheatley auditorium. It was a civilized, collegial experience. State law required the tradition to change and we now vote in booths on election day like all other districts. But we are still unique in that the quality and standards of our educational system have always been a top priority to all who reside in this district.

Now is the time for everyone to come together and support our newest board member as he begins his term.
