Allison Heimler of East Hills won gold medals at the Darien Open (CT) and Nassau County Figure Skating Competitions and bronze medals at the Wollman (NY) and Freeport (LI) Figure Skating Competitions.

Skating at a higher level and in a new routine Allison received the only perfect 5.0 score in a highly competitive group of 11 skaters from throughout the Northeast in the Darien Open on April 25 in Darien Connecticut. Skating at the pre-preliminary level to the music of La Cage Aux Folles in a routine filled with numerous difficult and technical required elements choreographed by her coaches Linda Lester and Valerie Murray. Allison impressed the judges with her enthusiasm, grace, athleticism and technical skills.

At the Nassau County Figure Skating Championships in Hicksville on May 3, Allison again won the first place trophy in the pre-preliminary freestyle event. Allison faced an extremely strong field skating her 2002 program to the music of La Cage Aux Folles. In the team compulsory event Allison flawlessly executed the forward spiral and flip jump helping her team, The Golden Blades, to win the first place trophy.

In two early season competitions at the picturesque outdoor Wollman Rink in Central Park at the 3rd Annual Wollman Open on March 10 and at the 3rd Annual Freeport Spring Challenge on April 20, Allison previewed her new routines and skills winning bronze medals for third place in both competitions.

Allison is a fifth grade student at the East Hills School and is a member of the Cantiague Figure Skating Club. Allison has recently performed exhibition programs at the Nassau Coliseum at the invitation of the New York Islanders and at Madison Square Garden at the invitation of the New York Rangers. Allison is scheduled to perform this coming fall at Rockefeller Center. Allison will be spending the summer at the United States Olympic Figure Skating Training Center in Lake Placid, New York.
