The Hilltop Educational Foundation's second annual 5K Run/Walk held on April 28 was very well attended in spite of heavy rains that fell that day. The foundation is a nonprofit, independent funding resource for educational programs throughout the Roslyn School District. Financial support for the run was provided by several area businesses. Major sponsors included: Astoria Federal Savings; Americana Manhasset; Daniel Gale Real Estate; Musiker Tours; Roslyn Savings Foundation; Lester's; North Shore Optics; Stewart J. Grauer, DDS, MS; Ian Bourhill, MD, FACS; and Whole Foods who provided healthy snacks and water. Astoria Federal Savings sponsored the Children's Fun Run. To date the Hilltop Foundation has contributed over $100,000 to the Roslyn School District. For more information on how to support the Foundation, or to work with the Foundation, please call 625-6315.

After the race there were raffle drawings. Raffle prizes were donated by several local merchants. Pictured are race coordinator Karen Kolb, Hilltop Foundation President Howard Schechter, Superintendent of Roslyn Schools Dr. Frank A. Tassone and new Assistant Superintendent for Curriculum Dr. Charles Piemonte.
