Garden to Replenish Food Pantries
Residents of East Hills plan to use the park space at the old Air National Guard station to plant a "Community Victory Garden," a place to grow vegetables and then donate them to Long Island Cares, which in turn will distribute them to various places that need such products.

Fred Hantman Golf Classic May 13
Fred Hantman, a past president of both the Roslyn Little League and Booster Basketball, was the creator and driving force behind the "Shoot Hoops for Lymphoma" Basketball Tournaments. Fred's objective was to generate public awareness and raise research dollars for Lymphoma. From 1997-2000, these 3-on-3 basketball games, for boys and girls, ages 8 to 65, annually attracted thousands of players and spectators to the Nassau Coliseum, and each event raised several hundred thousand dollars for Lymphoma research.
