The Roslyn Hilltop Educational Foundation is holding its second annual 5K (3.1 mile) Run/Walk on April 28. The racecourse begins at Roslyn High School at Roundhill Road and travels through the Villages of Historic Roslyn and East Hills. It is being professionally started and timed by the race management team. Timing will be done both manually and by computer.

The morning's events will include a Kids' Fun Run to be held before the race. Water will be provided along the course, and fruit and water, courtesy of Fresh Fields, will be distributed to participants following the race. Event T-shirts will be distributed to all registered participants, while supplies last, and each participant will be automatically entered in the raffle drawing. Additional raffle tickets will be sold in advance and at the race. Each registrant will also receive a goody bag filled with valuable items donated by several of our local sponsors.

Post-race activities will include the awards ceremony, raffle drawings and concessions featuring several local vendors. Prizes, trophies and ribbons will be awarded to the top three male and female finishers in each of numerous age categories.

Several area businesses have been very generous in their financial support of this fantastic community event. Lead sponsors include: Americana Manhasset; Roslyn Savings Foundation; Musiker Tours; Daniel Gale Realty; and Lester's Clothing. Astoria's Federal Savings is sponsoring the Kids' Fun Run.

The Hilltop Foundation is a non-profit, independent funding resource for educational programs throughout the Roslyn school district. Hilltop provides grants annually for technological, cultural and academic programs at each of the district's schools, and has donated over $100,000 for educational resources and outstanding programs.

Entry fees for advance registration are $15 for adults, and $12 for students and Roslyn Gold Card members. Race day registration is $18 for adults, and $15 for students and Gold Card members. The Kids' Fun Run is free, or $10 with T-shirt.

The 5K will begin at 9:45 a.m. at the front of the high school. The Fun Run will begin at 9 a.m. Registration and check-in will begin at 8 a.m. Applications can be picked up at Athlete's Foot, North Shore Optics, Nemo's, Musiker Tours, Pierce Country Day School, and other local businesses.
