Even though they were unopposed, a significant number of voters turned out to re-elect Marshal Bernstein and Craig Westergard as village trustees, along with Judge Nathan Stern as the village justice, who began his 12th term of office. Judge Stern began his village service in April of 1958. The re-election of the village board members signals a wide acceptance of Mayor Durkin's change in policies regarding open government that is sensitive to the needs of the Roslyn community. "It is most welcome to have village groups and organizations working together," said Mayor Durkin. The cooperative Christmas light program, the expansion of parking for employees of village businesses and tree plantings along Old Northern Boulevard were cited as examples of cooperative community efforts for the village.
