The Roslyn Public Schools will hold a public hearing on the proposed 2002-2003 budget on Thursday, May 9, beginning at 8 p.m. The meeting will be held at the Roslyn Administrative Building on Harbor Hill Road, Roslyn Heights.
The vote on the budget will take place May 21, from 7 a.m. to 9 p.m. at Roslyn High School on Round Hill Road.
In addition to the budget vote, the school district will also hold a vote for two members of the board of education. The terms of incumbents William Costigan and Ellen Seigel have expired. Both have declared they will run for re-election. As of now, there are no declared candidates to run against the two incumbents. The deadline for filing for the school board race is Saturday, April 20.
A copy of the statement of the amount of money which will be required to fund the school district's new budget, one exclusive of public monies, will be available for viewing by any resident of the district starting on Thursday, May 2. Residents can see the statement by visiting the Administrative Office on Harbor Hill Road between the hours of 9 a.m. and 4 p.m.
Copies of the statement are also available at various other locations throughout the school district. They include: Roslyn High School on Round Hill Road, Roslyn Middle School on Locust Lane, East Hills School on Locust Lane and Round Hill Road, Harbor Hill School on Glen Cove Road, and Heights School on Willow Street.
Last month, from March 18-20, budget discussion meetings, organized and coordinated through several parent groups, took place at the three grade schools, the middle school and at Roslyn High School.
