Former Israeli Prime Minister Ehud Barak will travel to Roslyn next month to give a lecture at Temple Sinai. The talk will take place Wednesday, April 24, beginning at 8 p.m.

EHUD BARAK

Prime Minister Barak will be the third guest lecturer in the Distinguished Lecture Series, which itself is sponsored by Temple Sinai Adult Education Committee.

This series, which has previously featured Nobel Prize Laureate Elie Wiesel and Dr. Henry A. Kissinger, was established to further Temple Sinai's commitment to presenting the congregation and community with the most inspiring speakers of our time. The Temple is honored that Prime Minister Ehud Barak, as its guest this year, will discuss both past and current world events.

Prime Minister Barak, a leader of his country during periods of both war and peace, has most recently served as Israel's 10th Prime Minister. In that capacity, he focused his efforts on the peace process, ordering the withdrawal in May 2000 of Israeli defense forces from South Lebanon and thereby ending 18 years of Israel's presence there. He also led far-reaching efforts to negotiate peace agreements with Syria and the Palestinian Authority.

The evening will begin with Prime Minister Barak's attendance at a private meeting with Temple Sinai High School students. Immediately thereafter, he will attend a private pre-dinner reception for Distinguished Lecture Series Sponsors and Benefactors. Prime Minister Barak will then attend, and speak, at a Patron's dinner which will begin at 6 p.m. Prime Minister Barak's lecture will follow the dinner, at 8 p.m. and will conclude with a question and answer period.

As of March 1, tickets for the dinner and lecture will be made available for purchase to the general public. Tickets for both the dinner and lecture are limited and will be sold on a first-come first-served basis. No tickets will be sold at the door. No bags, cameras or packages may be brought into the building. Persons and purses will be subject to search at the door. Photo ID required for all tickets holders over 18 and those under 18 must be accompanied by an adult. For further information about what promises to be a timely and informative evening or to purchase tickets, please contact the Temple Sinai office at 621-6800.
