The Roslyn High School boys varsity basketball team completed their most successful regular season since 1997 on a winning note, by defeating Island Trees at home and scoring an exciting come-from-behind victory against Glen Cove on the road.
On Monday, Feb. 11, the Bulldogs entertained Island Trees at the Roslyn High School gym. The Bulldogs took a 21-8 first quarter lead and never relinquished their advantage while on the way to a 65-50 win. Andrew Oliver scored a career-high 29 points in the win. Ronny Koenig added 10 points and 11 rebounds, while Raymond Johnson chipped in with 14 rebounds of his own.
Last Wednesday, Feb. 13, the Bulldogs traveled to Glen Cove. They took an 18-8 first quarter, but then saw Glen Cove narrow the score in the second quarter before taking the lead in the third frame. Going into the fourth quarter, the Bulldogs trailed by four points. However, they outscored Glen Cove, 19-11 in the final eight minutes to pull out a 54-50 win. With 30 seconds left, Darren Lindo tied the game with two free throws. Then with 20 seconds left, he hit two shots from the charity line to seal the victory. Once again, Andrew Oliver led the scoring parade with 18 points. Eric Bratt (13 points) and Ronny Koenig (10 points) also scored in double figures.
