Supermarket Construction Approved
Three years after it first proposed to build a supermarket in the center at the corner of Northern Boulevard and Shelter Rock Road, King Kullen's site plan for the location was approved unanimously by the North Hempstead Town Board on Dec. 11. It has been a rocky road for the developers of the property, Manhasset Ventures, a subsidiary of Kimco Realty Corp. of New Hyde Park.

BOT Reviews Consultant Applications
Not much happened at the Village of Roslyn's most recent board of trustees meeting. In fact, it ended before the crowd could get settled in their seats. Most of the business items, old and new, were tabled for further discussion and possible resolution at next month's meeting. The BOT did approve a request from a local resident to hold a 5K run/walk in the village next spring, an event designed to raise money for the Roslyn Hilltop Foundation.

Roslyn Wins Holiday Tournament
For the first time in five years, the Roslyn High School girls varsity team won an overtime game, defeating Clarke High School, 44-43. The win enabled the Lady Bulldogs to capture the Wheatley Holiday Basketball Tournament.

North Shore Basketball Round-Up
If the opening week of Vikings' basketball was a movie, it would be dubbed "Eight Men In & Out," because that's how many healthy players Coach Paul Girolamo had available as North Shore competed in the Cold Spring Harbor Tournament Dec. 13 - 14. Another title might be "Little Big Men" because then it was the Viking frontline of Chris Galano, Tyler Shirreffs and last year's impact player, 6-5 center Jose Valdeviaso that were missing from action in the sickbay.
