Williston Park residents braved the unaccustomed cold weather to light the majestic Christmas tree on the front lawn of Village Hall on Willis Avenue.

Lighting up the Williston Park tree are the trustees along with Nassau County Legislator Richard Nicolello and Williston Park Justice Alan Reardon with his wife Mary. The Williston Park trustees include Ray Cross, Ray Masaitis, Rocco Iannarelli, Maryann McDermott with Mayor Doreen Ehrbar.

Before the count down to the turning on of the lights, the village arranged for a concert by an an instrumental group, the South Shore Band, one made up of residents from New Hyde Park, Albertson and as far away as Center Moriches. They played holiday music and put everyone in the mood for the impending Christmas season.

The village lawn was packed with children and parents out in full force to celebrate the lighting of the tree as well as the traditional arrival of Santa Claus atop the Williston Park fire truck - always an exciting event. The children then went to the fire house for a special meeting with Santa and Rudolph and Frosty the Snowman.
