In January 2002, three trustees will be elected to the seven-member Bryant Library Board. As chair of the 2001 Bryant Library Association Nominating Committee, Susan Rand explains that board members are responsible for:
* Developing long-term library policy
* Assuring sound fiscal management
* Serving as liaison between the community and the library
To be eligible to be a trustee applicant, you must be a member of the Bryant Library Association. If you are not a member, an application is available at the Circulation Desk. Membership is free and open to all Roslyn School District residents of voting age. Association members elect trustees, may serve on the Nominating Committee and vote on changes in library bylaws.
An information packet, including Bryant Library history, its services, its governing bylaws, and the duties of trustees is available at the Reference Desk. To be a candidate for trustee, please fill out the application which is available at the library, and send with a cover letter and resume by Friday, Sept. 14, to: The Bryant Library Association, Nominating Committee, 2 Paper Mill Road, Roslyn, NY 11576.
Library Board of Trustee members Bruce Belsky, Karen Miller and Evelyn Philips are eligible for re-election to the board.
The Nominating Committee will meet in early October to review resumes, interview the applicants, and select the three candidates whose qualifications most closely meet the needs of the governing board. Nominations may also be made by petition.
The Nominating Committee is made up of Susan Rand, chair, Sheila Brummel, Martha Harris, Ronna Niederman, Farideh T. Siapoosh, and Himanshu Sood, young adult observer.
