Brian Mullins, of Wheatley High School, earned a 97.0 GPA and a 1510 SAT score. As president of the student government for two years and as a team MVP in three running sports, Brian has been a leader both on and off the field. He plays the saxophone and the flute, and worked on the school newspaper. With Brian's participation on the Wheatley team, the school became the Nassau County champion in Cablevision's Long Island Challenge competition. In this year's Nassau County Mathletes, Brian ranked second on the Wheatley team of 30. He was tri-captain and All-Conference in both indoor and outdoor track, and captain and All-Conference in cross-country. Brian received his school's Wildcat Award, an honor given to the most accomplished athlete. In his spare time, Brian volunteers with the East Williston Fire Department and with Project Snow, a team that clears driveways and walkways for the elderly and handicapped. He will use his $3,000 scholarship at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology this fall.
