The New York State Public High School Athletic Association (NYSPHSAA) has selected the Roslyn High School Girls Badminton team to receive a Scholar/Athlete Team award for the Spring 2001 sports season. The team, coached by Lynn Jacobson, was first in Nassau County in badminton. The NYSPHSAA believes that the athletic participation of students enhances their academic performances. To support this belief, the Scholar/Athlete Team Award Program was created in 1991. Varsity teams who earn a 90 percent or higher average during their sport season qualify for the NYSPHSAA award. The Pupil Benefits Plan, Inc. became the co-sponsor of the program in 1995. The Roslyn High school girls badminton team had a computed team average of 94.5 percent.
