Jerry Silverstein, 88, of Lake Worth, FL, died on May 21, 2001, after a brief illness - but an exceptionally long and happy life. He and his beloved wife of 61 years, Peppy, moved to Florida in 1974 from Roslyn Heights, where they raised their family of five wonderful children.

Mr. Silverstein emigrated to New York from Russia at age 8. He earned a BS degree in business from City College of NY and was a successful entrereneur in the garment manufacturing industry. He also owned and operated Holiday Inns in Florida.

A supporter of numerous charitable organizations, Mr. Silverstein was particularly involved with the Hadassah Medical Organization, Jewish Federation, ORT, State of Israel Bonds and the Anti-Defamation League. The Silversteins enjoyed many family trips to Israel.

The Silversteins have been active throughout the years in Temple Beth Sholom and in Roslyn and Temple Beth Tikvah in Greenacres City, FL.

Mr. Silverstein is survived by his wife, Peppy, and his children Marilyn of Weston, FL, Rita of Marblehead, MA, Bobby of Great Falls, VA, Michael of Coral Springs, FL, and Mindy of Israel; as well as 10 grandchildren, Charles, Miles, Kendra, Mark, Evan, Benjamin, Joshua, Udi, Eitan and Yael; and two great-grandchildren, Vanessa and Chase.

The family honored Mr. Silverstein's loving nature, quick wit, quiet wisdom and full life at a service in West Palm Beach.
