As a concerned parent, taxpayer, resident and voter, I write this letter after having read many recent letters to the editor endorsing candidates for the May 15 East Williston School Board election. The decisions of school board members not only affect our school tax bill, but also impact upon the health and safety of our children. I urge all residents and voters to not only vote in this important election, but, more importantly, to attend the upcoming Meet the Candidates Night.

Openly ask the candidates their position on issues affecting our community. Let's hear what each candidate has to say regarding our school board's unanimous decision to contract with Bell Atlantic for the installation of an approximate 100 foot cell tower on the grounds of the Willets Road School. What are the candidates' position on parental notification of health and safety hazards within our schools? What measures are being implemented to better secure and ensure the safety of our children? Additionally, what measures are in place to ensure that our children are being supplied with safe, potable drinking water in the schools?

Let's discuss these and all the issues.
