Dr. Joseph A. Cinque, 60, a clinical psychologist and former teacher, died on March 14, 2001 of complications following kidney transplantation. He was in private practice in the Great Neck and East Hills areas for many years. He specialized in chemical dependency, supervised students at Interfaith Medical Center and was a mentor to doctoral candidates.
Dr. Cinque traveled extensively and enjoyed many visits to his parents native home in Sorrento, Italy. He received his private pilot's license and flew throughout the Northeastern US. Dr. Cinque and his wife, Muriel Catherine (Geraghty), created the architectural plans for their home in Southampton, and he was actively involved in its construction.
Dr. Cinque was born and raised in Lynbrook where his parents settled and established a successful family-owned and operated garden center. He attended St. Raymond's Parish School. He attended Cathedral High School and received his bachelor's degree from Cathedral College of the Immaculate Conception. He earned his Ph.D. in clinical psychology from Fordham University.
Dr. Cinque is survived by his wife, Muriel Catherine; brothers Vincent, Nicholas, Al, Mark and Tony and his sister Mary Biondo; and many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his brothers Ralph and Peter.
A Funeral Mass was held on March 17 at St. Raymond's Church where his family had worshipped and where he and his wife were married. The eulogy was delivered by his friend of many years, Joseph Bock.

Victor Angelo Vergata Sr., 60, formerly of Greenvale, died recently. Father of five. Brother of Dominic and Tino Vergata and Loretta Dorela. Arrangements were made by the Adams-Perfect Funeral Home, Northfield, NJ. Mass of Christian Burial at St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Church, Absecon, NJ.
