In the March 2 issue of The Roslyn News, the attitude of the advocates for an elevator in the Roslyn Village Hall, especially myself, was misrepresented. Initially at the meeting in January, as reported in the Feb. 4 issue of the paper, we were there to support approval of an elevator in the Village Hall.
We, the advocates, pointed out that an elevator is useful for more than people with disabilities. It is also helpful if people have heavy packages or baby carriages and have to go between the several floors of the Village Hall. We even left our names and addresses and offered to get together with the board of trustee members and try to find additional sources of funding for the elevator, but as of this date we have not heard from the village.
I am still willing to help the village understand what their rights and obligations are under the law.
