Have you ever attended a fourth or fifth grade girls basketball game? This season you will see three important elements: The proper amount of instruction, the proper amount of competition, and the proper amount of enthusiasm. The reason for this well balanced structure is due in large part to the commissioner of the league, Jeff Borowick.

From the start of the season Jeff has demanded that the league be fun, fun and fun. Jeff indicated that the main goal is to encourage the girls to participate in sports and feel a sense of accomplishment.

In addition to the structure of the league, it is Jeff's effort behind the scenes which should be applauded. He invites parents to participate in a halftime shooting contest and has organized three separate All Star games so every child can be an "All Star" and handles all phone calls from parents. He ensures that each team will be noted in the paper with the appropriate team photos. Not surprisingly, he knows each child's name and encourages each of them throughout the game.

As both a parent and a coach, we thank him and commend him for his efforts.

Lou Karol, Jeff Giller and Ed Smith
