Dorothy E. Wolfendale, 80, died Nov. 10, 2000, in a local nursing home after a lengthy illness. She was the wife of the late Lt. Col. Charles Wolfendale, USAF,, who was killed at MacDill Air Force Base, Florida, while training pilots in 1951. Born in Lynn, MA, she was the daughter of the late George J. and Eleanor (Garvin) Heffernan. She was a graduate of Lynn English High School, Class of 1937. She resided in the Village of East Hills for more than 40 years, previously residing in Lynn.
Mrs. Wolfendale was a clerk to the Village Justice of East Hills for 36 yeas until her retirement in June 1992. She was a former communicant of St. Pius V Church and was an avid bridge player for several bridge clubs. She was an award winning member of the Roslyn Heights Garden Club.
Mrs. Wolfendale is survived by a sister, Marguerite J. Cuffe of Lynn and several nieces and nephews and was the sister of the late George Heffernan, Anna McGinn and Eleanor Heseltine.
The funeral was held at Cuffe-McGinn Funeral Home, followed by a Funeral Mass at St. Pius V Church and burial in St. Joseph's Cemetery.
Loraine E. Henderson (nee Hoagland), of Watkins Glen, NY, formerly of Roslyn Heights, died on Dec. 3, 2000. She was predeceased by her husband George. She is survived by her sons, George and Jeffrey; four granddaughters and four great-grandsons. Interment Bath, NY. Donations in her memory can be made to Southern Tier Hospice, 244 W.
