Friends Athletes Receive Nassau County Recognition Receiving honors on the Friends Academy varsity football team were seniors Peter Williamson, Huntington Bay, All County, Zach Hill, Roslyn Harbor, All Conference, and Elliott Klass, Roslyn, National Federation Scholar/Athlete. Two players on the girls tennis team, junior Samantha Jacobs, Jericho, and sophomore Ashley Lostritto, Old Brookville, qualified to play in the New York State Championships. They qualified for this honor by finishing second in the Nassau County High School Championships. In addition, both were named All State and All County. Several members of the Friends Academy varsity field hockey team received Nassau County honors. Junior Katie Fahey, Sands Point, was named All County and senior captains Heather Tilton, Sea Cliff, and Alexandra Wasp, Lattingtown, received All Conference honors and were named Exceptional Seniors. Sophomore Caitlin Drumm, Westbury and junior Jessica Steinberg, Muttontown, received All League honors. In addition, senior captain Pam Karches, Locust Valley, was named a Scholar/Athlete and sophomore Amanda Solomon, Glen Cove, and Unsung Hero. Friends Academy girls soccer coach, Gail Baker, was named Coach of the Year for Nassau County Section VIII, Class B. In addition, sophomore Kate Donoghue, Plandome, was named All Class B; junior Mariel Lifshitz, Jericho, All Conference, and seniors Tanya Bajaj, Manhasset, and Tanya Hanna, West Hempstead, were named Scholar/Athletes. With a record of 10 wins, two losses and two ties the team placed second in its conference. Cross country members, juniors Jackie Wachsman, Upper Brookville, and Mats Lemberger, Lloyd Neck, were named All Conference and both qualified to participate in the New York State Cross Country Championships. Jackie won the Nassau County "C" and Mats placed fifth in the counties to qualify. Receiving Nassau County recognition on the boys varsity soccer team were junior Josh Trott, East Northport, All County, and senior co-captains Kevin Seibert, Huntington, and Alex Burakoff, Upper Brookville, and junior Tim Dooley, Mill Neck All Division.
