Patricia Marjorie Ann Veckerman died on Sept. 27, 2000. Pat was born in Brooklyn on Feb. 23, 1925. She graduated from Bishop McDonnell Memorial High School in Brooklyn, then from Hofstra College.
Upon graduation, she went to work for the federal government in NYC and Mitchel Field. She later worked for the United Nations, Security Council Affairs, and then went overseas to Indonesia for the Committee of Good Offices. Upon her return to the US, she married Earl R. Veckerman whom she had met while at the UN. They moved to Roslyn which is where she raised her two daughters Pamela and Denise. She was an active member in the North Nassau Girl Scouts Council, the League of Women Voters and the Red Cross. She was the accounting supervisor at Piping Rock Country Club in Locust Valley from 1975 to 1985. In 1989 she moved to California with her daughter Denise where she became a computer applications instructor for Muir Institute and later at Nordstrom's Business School.
She was predeceased by her parents, Catherine and Benjamin Hopkins and her brothers Ben, Bobby and Danny Hopkins. Mother and mother-in-law of Pamela and Salvatore Poliandro of Wappingers Falls, NY, Denise Veckerman and Don Harvid of Boulevard, San Diego, CA. Grandmother of Nicolle-Ragni-Ramos and Sal, Vinny and Anthony Poliandro. Great-grandmother of Vicente Ramos.
