Usually a letter to the paper is a complaint about a local government or agency. This letter is meant as a tribute to the Roslyn Fire Department Rescue Unit.

Last Sunday night my wife, fortunately, called 911 as I lapsed into unconsciousness and could not be awakened. The Nassau Police operator called the Roslyn Fire Department, which responded with a full crew (I am told, as I was not conscious), who transported me to North Shore Hospital.

On the way to the hospital, the ambulance crew gave me medical treatment and personal care. I was informed at the hospital that they probably saved me from a more serious ending.

I think the residents of the Greater Roslyn area should be thankful to have such a dedicated group of men who volunteer their time and skill to serve our community.
