The Rise of One Roslyn Writer
Roslyn was once home to two major American literary figures, William Cullen Bryant and Christopher Morley. With the library and Cedarmere, Bryant's legacy is a daily reminder; in addition, Morley's writing quarters have been preserved as a home open to visitors on weekends at the large park in Searingtown bearing his name.
New Building Moratorium Enacted
The Village of Roslyn Board of Trustees has enacted a new building moratorium for the village while attorneys reargue the case for its original Master Plan and Zoning Code.
Tournament to Honor Breast Cancer Victim
Roslyn resident and Muttontown Country Club member, the late Sandy Zuckerman Rothstein, will be remembered in the new title of the Big Babe Tournament to fight breast cancer. The announcement was made, on Aug. 21, by Beth Sachs, American Cancer Society director of special events, and the Babe Zaharias events on Long Island. The decision was the result of what happened earlier in this year.
