The publication of the first annual Roslyn Vintage Postcard Phone Address Directory is still set for a December release, in time for the Christmas season. The directory will feature a 2001 calendar along with addresses and artwork of participating local businesses.

Helping Hands Publications, Inc. of Baldwin is the official company that is publishing and producing the directory. Tina Curran is the president of Helping Hands. So far, she remains pleased with the response by the business community to the directory idea. As noted in the July 20 number of The Roslyn News, the directory will feature artwork illustrating the Roslyn that existed in the early years of the 20th century running alongside artwork of current businesses operating in the village. Every resident in the village will receive a free copy. In addition, one thousand copies will be set aside for use by the Roslyn Landmark Society.

Earlier this month, Roslyn Mayor Janet Galante wrote a letter to local merchants introducing Helping Hands as the company producing the directory. The mayor reiterated her support for the directory, calling it a "valuable tool" for residents and merchants alike. "The Board of Trustees believes this classic book will be an asset to the merchants and professionals who participate and broaden community awareness of Roslyn." The directory has also been endorsed by Donald Kavanagh, president of the Landmark Society. Mr. Kavanagh has said the directory will introduce local merchants "to a preferred clientele" while benefiting residents looking for "recommended local resources for shopping, professional services, restaurants and entertainment."
