On behalf of the board of trustees of the Volunteer and Exempt Firefighters Benevolent Association of Roslyn, I wish to state that the letter regarding our golf outing (June 8 issue) was sent without our consent. That letter should not have been sent and is in no way an appeal to the public for funds.

Both of our Fire Companies (Roslyn Highlands and Roslyn Rescue) do appeal on an annual basis and it is not our intent to cause either of them to lose those much-needed funds.

Again I apologize for an error in judgment on the part of a committee member.

Thoral Frislid

President, Volunteer and Exempt Firemen's Benevolent Association of Roslyn
