The Greater Long Island Running Club is pleased to announce that one of the two winners of the 16th Annual GLIRC Scholarship Awards is Jesse Warren of Roslyn High School.
Jesse is a key member of the Roslyn High School track and cross country teams, and prides himself on mentoring younger runners on the teams. For the past two years, as captain of these teams, he instructed younger runners in motivation, training techniques and racing strategies. Jesse, as the sports editor of the school newspaper, was instrumental in the effort to push the construction of an all-weather track at Roslyn High School, an effort that only recently culminated in a successful bond referendum that will make the track a reality. Jesse also volunteers his time as a "grunt" at cross country meets at SUNY Old Westbury.
