Final Budget Sees Small Tax Hike
Even though they tried to avoid it, the Village of Roslyn's Board of Trustees could not prevent a tax increase in the 2000-2001 budget. The $3.8 million budget will see a 6.83 percent tax increase. The budget's first draft, unveiled at the end of March, originally called for a 14 percent tax increase. That number was cut down to 8 percent, before the BOT "amicably" settled on the final number.

Sprint Debate Continues
Also at the April 18 public meeting, lawyers and representatives from Sprint Spectrum and the Village of Roslyn Board of Trustees continued their discussion of Sprint's plan to attach three eight-inch in width antennas to existing towers on property at Rallye Motors in Roslyn.

Fink Stars in Tennis Tourney
Scott Fink, a ninth grader, and No. 1 singles player at Wheatley High School, just placed third in an Eastern Tennis Association Boys 16's Grand Prix Tournament at the National Tennis Center. Scott, last year, was ranked fifth in the Boys 14's Eastern Tennis Association, and 62nd in the country, is starting to adjust to the hard hitting of the 16's.
