In connection with the LIE HOV Capacity Improvement Project currently underway, Roslyn Road will be closed, under the Long Island Expressway (LIE), from Friday, March 31 at 9 p.m. through Sunday, April 2 at 6 a.m. This closure is necessary in order to demolish the southern third of the Roslyn Road bridge as part of the widening of this bridge. The North and South Service Roads will remain open during this operation. Locust Lane and Willis Avenue can be used as alternate north/south roadways. Motorists traveling southbound on Roslyn Road can make a right at the North Service Road (Powerhouse Road), head west to Willis Avenue, make a left to the South Service Road and head east to Roslyn Road where they can make a right onto Roslyn Road and continue southbound. Similarly, those heading northbound on Roslyn Road can make a right at the South Service Road, head east to Locust Lane, make a left to the North Service Road and head west to Roslyn Road where they can make a right turn onto Roslyn Road and continue north.
Should any unforeseen problems arise during this operation, the contractor will have until 6 a.m. Monday, April 3, to re-open Roslyn Road to normal operations.
As with any road construction site, motorists and pedestrians are urged to proceed carefully and exercise caution when traveling through the entire LIE work zone.
