On Jan. 30, the North Shore Vikings Boys Winter Track Team placed third in their conference with a combined score of 78 points. Brian Greig placed first in both the 55m high hurdles with a time of 7.8 seconds, and the 600m race with a time of 1:29.1. Paul Johnson placed first in the high jump with a height of 5 feet, 2 inches. Lastly, the 4 x 400m relay team of David Calzone, Steve Smirti, Mark Dellavecchia and Brian Greig, placed first with a time of 3:55. Also scoring at the meet was Mike Weiner who placed third in the shot put with a throw of 33 feet, 5-1/4 inches.

On Jan. 28, the North Shore Vikings Girls Track Team also placed third in their conference meet with a combined score of 47 points. Jessica Holke placed third in the 300m race with a time of 45.40. In the 3000m race Vanessa Hawkins placed second with a time of 12:37.3, and Tracy Calzone placed third with a time of 12:38.0. The girls 4 x 400m relay team placed second with a time of 4:34.6.

Congratulations to the North Shore wrestling team who won the Nassau County 3B Duel Meet championship on Saturday, Feb. 12. They wrestled a hard fought match against Westbury beating them 36 to 28. The wrestling team finished their season with an 8 and 3 record. Best wishes to our seniors, Tristan Cummins, Brian Eserino and R.J. Dennis. Congratulations to Nassau County Champion Brian Greig who earned All-County Honors by winning his event - the 55m hurdles -- with a time of 7.8 seconds. The Nassau County meet was held on Feb. 6, at SUNY Farmingdale. Brian is the first county champion for North Shore in over 15 years. Brian also placed fifth in the county in the 600m race and competed in the 4 x 400m relay race along with teammates David Calzone, Mark Dellavecchia and Stephen Smirti. The team placed third in their event.
