Re: Frederic Carlton's letter in the last issue, there is no reason why Roslyn should "...now suffer the loss of a fair and level lead on our board of trustees." The fact that Marshall Bernstein was not nominated by the Clock Tower Party had less to do with him and everything to do with Mayor Galante's need for a safe three vote majority on the board. If Nolan Myerson or John Durkin's term had been up they too would have been passed over in favor of someone whose vote Mayor Galante could count on. Not being able to push through her budget, the pay increase she wanted and most of all the extension of her term to four years are the real reasons why three months before the election Marshall Bernstein finds himself in this situation.

It's time the voters had a choice. One person or one party should not control all decisions made in this village. Mayor Galante and Louise McCann (when she bothers to show up for the board meetings) already vote as a block. The thought of Mayor Galante controlling a majority of votes on the board is truly a frightening scenario.
