On Sunday, September 26, the Juvenile Diabetes Foundation, International sponsored one of its major fundraising events of the year...the Walk to Cure at Eisenhower Park. Ariel David Winters, a junior at Roslyn High School and a juvenile diabetic, one of three million nationwide, participated with friends and family in this annual affair. They walked the full ten kilometers, hoping that with every step they took it would be a step closer to finding a cure for this deadly disease and that very shortly it will no longer be an annual event. These funds will support the ongoing efforts of hundreds of researchers worldwide. To identify his team from the thousands of other participants, Ari designed and printed his own tee-shirts, with a running needle as its central design, and entitled Ari's Artists. Ari's Artists was awarded third place for its fundraising family team efforts in all of Nassau County on Nov. 20 at an awards ceremony held at the Huntington Hilton. Ari's Artists has publicly challenged the first place team to exceed the present levels next year.
