The committee for the Manhasset Five Mile "Run/Walk for Research" met recently to complete plans for the Nov. 27 event. The course winds through the Villages of Flower Hill and Munsey Park. Registration begins at 8 a.m. at the Munsey Park School gymnasium with a shotgun start at 9:30 a.m.

Ed Melnick, race director from the Greater Long Island Running Club, assures an accurate five-mile course for those looking to best their times. Walkers will enjoy working off their turkey dinners. Following the race, Fresh Fields Whole Foods Market has generously donated a breakfast for all the participants. In addition, a color TV and a mountain bike will be raffled off. Free blood pressure tests and T-shirts will be available. All the proceeds from the day will benefit the Polycystic Kidney Research Foundation.
