George W. Hussennetter, 87, of Sugarloaf, PA, died recently at the Hazelton-St. Joseph's Medical Center, following a lengthy illness. Born in Brooklyn May 22, 1912, he was the son of the late William and Margaret (Straub) Hussennetter, and spent the past 20 years in Sugarloaf, after moving from Roslyn Harbor.

He was a retired advertising manager for the New York Daily News and had been employed there for 43 years when he retired in 1975. He was a member of Christ United Church of Christ, Conyhgham. He was a US Navy veteran of WWII where he held the rank of Lieutenant and received the American and European Theater medal and the German Occupation and Victory Medals. After receiving his discharge from the Navy he entered the US Navy Reserve where he retired in 1961 with the rank of Lieutenant Commander. He was a 1934 graduate of NYU with a bachelor of commercial science degree in marketing. While at NYU he served as president of Delta Sigma Pi fraternity. He became an Eagle Scout on Aug. 8, 1928 with Troop 134 of Brooklyn and was the oldest living Eagle Scout in Pennsylvania. He was past Master of Wantagh-Morton Lodge #63 of F&AM in 1965.

He was preceded in death in addition to his parents by a sister Margaret Erath and son-in-law Franklin Huff. Surviving are his wife of the past 60 years, the former Dorothy Wagenseil; two daughters, Dorothy Joan Huff, Conyngham, and Barbara (Ivan) Larsh of Charlotte, NC; six grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

Funeral services were held at the Mark S. Harman Funeral Home, Drums, PA with The Rev. Ghulam Nasrani officiating. Burial Conyngham Union Cemetery. Contributions can be made to the Christ United Church of Christ, Conyngham, PA 18219 or the Boy Scouts of America.
