To commemorate the anniversary of Crystal Nacht, Temple Sinai along with the sponsorship of the Temple Brotherhood and the 55 Plus Club of Temple Sinai is proud to present: Music for Remembrance by the Arista String Quartet.

The program of music is collected from string quartets written in the concentration camps, or are arrangements of music written by composers about the Holocaust. Too many of the originators of the music and the poetry from which some music was set, lost their lives in the awful era. This program on the anniversary of Crystal Nacht is dedicated as a memorial to the victims of the Holocaust.

The Arista String Quartet is made up of violinists Maurine Buckner and Ellen Cohen, cellist Lynn Friis, and violist Carolyn Minionis. They have performed at private parties and religious events throughout the greater metropolitan area. The musicians, who also teach and play with other chamber ensembles, began their association over 20 years ago as members of the now disbanded Great Neck Symphony Orchestra. The event takes place Tuesday, Nov. 9, 8 p.m.

All the arrangements of the music performed were done by the two members of the quartet who are Roslyn residents: Maurine Buckner and Carolyn Minionis. Carolyn Minionis is also a long-standing member of Temple Sinai's Senior Choir.
