Women's tennis player Julie Klein of Roslyn has been named Binghamton's Athlete of the Week for Sept. 6-12.

Ms. Klein, a senior who plays number one singles and doubles for BU, won five of six matches on the week, steering the Bearcats to a 3-0 record to open the season.

In singles, Ms. Klein lost just two games in two matches before rallying for a three-set win against Bentley College, 6-7, (7-5), 6-3, 6-2. In back-to-back days, she blanked her Dowling College foe, 6-0, 6-0, and then posted a 6-1 win against Franklin Pierce College.

In doubles, Ms. Klein teamed with junior Heather Binen for two more wins in three matches---both convincing 8-1 pro-set victories.
