Officials of the village announced the receipt of a $2,000 donation to the Roslyn Tree Planting Fund made by LIPA/KeySpan Energy. Mayor Galante said, "This administration is committed to protecting one of the village's major natural resources and that is the urban forest. Recognition of this dedicated effort by the utilities is a positive step forward."

The companies made the donation as "an expression of our desire to work with the Village of Roslyn developing and maintaining our urban forests." The companies offer assistance in the selection and procurement of trees, in particular near electric wires. Recognized for the village program of tree preservation and replacement, Roslyn is identified as a Tree City, USA by the National Arbor Day Foundation. The mayor stated that the village is pleased to see the environmental consciousness expressed by LIPA and KeySpan Energy to coordinate the tree pruning necessary to maintain reliable electric service.
