A broad-based offense and key defensive play allowed the major league Liberties to top the Beavers 9-5. For the Liberties, Josh Korder had three hits and scored two runs. Brandon Reiner had two hits, a walk and scored twice. Daniel Grauer and Luis Alvarez each had two hits and scored once. Brad Mighdoll had two hits. Jeremy Einhon and Jason Wilson each had one hit, one walk and one run scored. Franklin Sherman had a double on a long drive to centerfield. Adam Gartenberg was hit by a pitch, walked and scored a run. Zach Kohn had a hit.
Pitching for the Liberties, Reiner and Alvarez combined to strike out three batters. Adam Cohen provided defensive support. The key defensive play for the Liberties came in the third inning when the Beavers had bases loaded with only one out. Josh Weinstein hit a line drive down the first baseline that was headed for right field and extra bases. Liberties' first baseman Grauer made a diving catch and then made a second dive to touch first base behind the runner for an unassisted double play to end the inning.
The Beavers' offense was also broad-based. Ian Borg had three hits (including a long double) and scored a run. AJ Reisman also had three hits and scored a run. Both Toby Finkelstein and Lee Hanfling had a hit and scored a run stealing home. Matt Lane had two hits. Ian Goldberg had a walk and a stolen base. Corey Greenbaum had a hit and a walk. Charles Ciccone had a walk, was hit by a pitch and stole two bases. Pitchers Weinstein and Reisman combined to strike out four.
