The Roslyn Fire Companies have been the target of a scathing smear campaign in recent weeks by Mayor Janet Galante for reasons no other than personal. It is the intention of both fire companies to reassure the residents of all nine municipalities (North Hempstead, Oyster Bay, Roslyn, Roslyn Estates, Roslyn Harbor, East Hills, Old Westbury, Old Brookville and Flower Hill) that we maintain committed to providing the highest quality fire protection and emergency medical services in Nassau County. It cannot be forgotten that those are the principal reasons we exist.
While the fire companies have attempted for many years to maintain political neutrality, there have been occasions (albeit few) that our position on an issue has caused political and public comment. We do not intend to offend any individual or group in doing so. Personalities notwithstanding, the Roslyn Fire Companies intend to continue to strive to meet our commitments and to remain community-friendly providers of life-saving services.
We only ask that you remain sensitive to our needs and instill confidence in our abilities not only to fight fires but also in how we run our businesses. We welcome any inquiries and encourage tours of any of the five firehouses in the district.
