On a sunny Mother's Day Sunday, the Red Sox defeated the Liberties by a score of 7-3. Though the Liberties took the lead with two runs in the first inning, the Red Sox scored in each of the second through sixth innings. For the Red Sox, Jason Weinreb had two hits, three walks and scored three times. Michael Hight and Jeremy Grant each had three hits. Zach Diamond had two hits and scored once. Daniel Chertok had one hit, one walk and scored a run. Michael Haut had one walk, two stolen bases and a run scored. Scott Kaplan gained first base after being hit by a pitch and scored a run by stealing three subsequent bases. The Red Sox pitchers, Michael Hight and Michael Haut, combined to strike out seven batters.
For the Liberties, Jeremy Einhorn (three hits and two runs) led off the first inning with a single. Daniel Grauer (two hits and one run) followed with a single. Luis Alvarez then drove in the first two runs with a double. The other Liberties run came in the third inning when Jeremy Einhorn tagged up from third base on a long drive to right field by Luis Alvarez. Brad Mighdoll and Adam Gartenberg each had a single. Josh Korder had a single and a stolen base. Supporting the defense were Franklin Sherman, Adam Cohen and Zach Kohn. Jeremy Einhorn had an unassisted double play in the sixth inning on a fly ball behind second base which he caught and then tagged second base before the runner could return. Pitching for Liberties, Luis Alvarez and Josh Korder struck out five batters.
