Liberties Top Indians 9-4

A broad based offensive performance boosted the Liberties to a 9-4 victory over the Indians. Brandon Reiner reached base all three at-bats, had a double in the second inning and scored two runs. Luis Alvarez was two for two, including a triple, and scored two runs. Neal Bass was also two for two. Josh Korder had two walks and scored twice. Adam Cohen, Adam Gartenberg and Jeremy Einhorn each had a walk and scored a run. Defensive play was supported by Zach Cohen, Franklin Sherman, Brad Mighdoll and Daniel Grauer.

Indians pitchers Brett Cohen and Bobby Bott combined to strike out 10 Liberties. Jacob Cohen had a hit and scored a run. Ben Fleischman had a walk and also scored a run. Brad Cohen reached base twice on walks and scored each time. Bobby Bott had the hit. Jesse Gold had a walk and a stolen base. Lee Taglin had a walk while Garrett Kaplan had two. Supporting the Indians defense were Brian Lin, Michael Friedman, and Daniel Ostroff-Moskowitz.

Red Sox Over Liberties 14-7

Hitting from the entire Red Sox lineup provided the offensive margin in a 14 to 7 victory over the Liberties. Jason Goodman had four hits including a line drive homerun over the left-field fence. Jerry Grant had four hits and scored four runs. Jason Weinreb and Andrew Smock each reached base twice and scored twice. Daniel Chertok reached base all four at-bats and scored a run. Michael Haut reached base three times and scored once. Bryan Denberg reached base twice and scored once. Scott Kaplan had a single and a stolen base. Michael Haut and Bryan Denberg shared pitching responsibilities and struck out five batters.

For the Liberties, the offense was also broad-based with each of seven players scoring a run. One run each was scored by: Adam Gartenberg who had a three run home run, Daniel Grauer who had three hits and two stolen bases, Luis Alvarez who had two hits and two stolen bases, Jeremy Einhorn who had two hits (including a triple) and two stolen bases, Neal Bass who had a double, Brad Mighdoll who reached base twice and stole two bases, and Franklin Sherman with a walk and stolen base. Zach Kohn had a hit and two stolen bases. Brandon Reiner and Luis Alvarez combined to strike out six batters.

Liberties Edge Beavers 1-0

In a pitching duel, the Liberties pitchers, Josh Korder and Brandon Reiner, combined to strike out eight Beavers. The only run of the game came in the first inning when Daniel Grauer (two hits for the game) reached third base combining a hit and a stolen base. Josh Korder (two hits for the game) then drove in the game winning run with a double. Rounding out the Liberties offense were Neil Bass, Brad Mighdoll, Brandon Reiner and Adam Gartenbergr with one hit each. Adam Cohen contributed a fourth inning walk. Contributing to the powerful defensive game were Franklin Sherman, Jeremy Einhorn and Zach Kohn.

For the Beavers, offense was provided by Evan Waldman (who went three for three), Toby Finkelstein (one hit) and Cory Greenbaum (one hit). The Beavers pitchers Lee Hanfling and Ian Borg combined to strike out six Liberties. Holding the Liberties to only one run came from the strong defensive play of AJ Reisman, Ian Borg, Matt Lane, Ian Goldberg and Charles Ciccione.
