On Monday, April 12, the Braves and the Liberties met at Temple Beth Sholom. The Braves won 5-0.
For the Liberties, pitching was split between Josh Korder (who struck out four batters), and Luis Alvarez (who struck out three batters). Daniel Grauer was the first Liberties base runner (after being hit by a pitched ball) in the first inning, and led off the sixth inning with a base hit. Neal Bass was on base twice (once hit by a pitch) in the fifth inning. Luis Alvarez hit a long drive to center field in the fourth inning, but was thrown out while attempting to stretch a double into a triple. He also hit a single in the sixth inning. Brandon Reiner had two walks. Josh Korder had a single in the first inning. Franklin Sherman and Brad Mighdoll contributed to the offense with one walk each. Jeremy Einhorn, Adam Cohen and Adam Gartenberg contributed to the defensive play.
For the Braves, Lee Nussbaum singled in the fourth inning. Matthew Friedman walked and scored in the first inning, singled and scored in the third inning, and walked in the fourth inning. Max Forest was the starting pitcher with four strikeouts, tripled and scored in the first inning, and walked in the fourth inning. Lee Farber singled and stole second base in the first and third innings, pitched the last three innings with six strikeouts. Ben Rotstein walked and stole second base in the third inning. Kyle Fatoullah played first base with many great put outs. David Burros singled in the fourth inning, caught a line drive at third base preventing a player getting a double, and had a force out at 3rd base. Ben Cott doubled and stole third base in the second inning, and stole second base in the sixth inning. Evan Hantverk doubled and scored in the fourth and made a great throw from left field causing a force out at third base. Finally, Bryan Fassman played left field and right field very defensively.
