Johanna Morgan, of Albertson, died on Jan. 9, 1999. She was a retired school teacher in the North Babylon schools and a member of VFW Albertson Post #523, Ladies Auxiliary . Wife of Robert. Mother of Jane Lewis, Robert and Kenneth. Mother-in-law of Robert, Ann and Debra. Grandmother of eight. Arrangements were made by the Weigand Bros. Funeral Home, Williston Park. VFW Ladies Auxiliary Service. Funeral Mass at Corpus Christi RC Church. Interment Holy Rood Cemetery. Edmund L. Krukowski, 80, formerly of Roslyn, died on Jan. 11, 1999. He was a decorated WWII veteran and served with the Roslyn Fire Dept. Rescue Hook and Ladder Co. Father of Deborah, Mary Ann, Robert and Edmund Jr. Grandfather of seven. brother of Ted and the late Henry, Anthony, Stanley Jr. and Lillian Casteluccio. Arrangement were made by the Roslyn Heights Funeral Home. Funeral Mass. Interment Calverton National Cemetery. Donations can be made, in Mr. Kurkowski's name, to the Institute for Child Development, SUNY Binghamton, NY 13902. Vera E. Bender (Thompson), 94, of Southbury, Ct., died at the East Hill Woods Health Center, on Jan. 12,1999. She was the widow of Dr. James F. Bender. Mrs. Bender was born on July 17, 1904 in Akeley, PA, daughter of the late Samuel and Ella (Hornstrom) Thompson. She was a resident of Roslyn from 1945 until moving to Southbury six years ago. She leaves one son, Theodore Sattler, and his wife Carol of Chappaqua, NY; two grandchildren, James and Gregory Sattler of Chappaqua; and her friend and companion, Carol Natale of Watertown, CT. Arrangements were made by the Carpino Funeral Home, Southbury. Memorial service at East Hill Woods.
