Council Approves Historic District
After a long, often raucous two-hour meeting, the Town of North Hempstead council has allowed a small portion of Roslyn Heights to declare itself an historic district. The designated area includes 68 homes on Elm and Willow Streets and the north side of Garden Street. The final vote was unanimous, with all four council members and TONH Supervisor May Newburger voting in favor of the district.

North Hills Residents Protest Proposed Facility
According to Mrs. Muriel Koppell Hammer, resident of Shelter Rock Road in North Hills, the first she heard about a proposed "nursing home" to be built adjacent to her property was a chance mention about a meeting of the North Hills Village Board to be held on Dec. 22. Although she subsequently was informed that the proposed facility will not be a nursing home but rather a senior "assisted living facility," she has not been appeased.

Softball Clinic at RHS
The first annual Roslyn Bulldogs Softball SnowFlake clinic will take place Sunday, Feb. 7 from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Roslyn High School Gymnasium. The clinic is open to all girls grades 5 through 8 who attend the Roslyn schools.

The Glenwood-Glen Head Jr. Baseball League will hold early registration on two consecutive Saturdays, Jan. 23 and 30, in the North Shore High School gym lobby, from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m.
